It has come to my attention that there is a bug in the implementation of the IncludeSourceProperties parameter in the adapter, specifically related to the Description property. When the parameter is set to "None" or "Description" is not specified in the list of properties, the Description field of the PI point is overwritten with an empty string regardless of whether a Description already exists on the PI point. While there is no workaround, if your OPC UA server has no information in the Description field, the OPC UA adapter will not overwrite the Description specified in the PI Point when the IncludeSourceProperties is set to "All" or "Description" is included in the parameter. In the release notes it is listed under enhancements:
Support for users to specify whether to replicate certain properties from the data source or keep existing value in the data endpoint
And is configured in "Adapter-wide parameters" (includeSourceProperties)

Thank you for your upvotes and comments. This request has been addressed in the latest release of AVEVA Adapter for OPC UA 1.6.0.296, which is now available in the Customer Portal.

I would extend the argument further to include UOM as described here

which only talks about ADH, but should also include PI Server.
